Another detail is the presence of bony inflammations produced seemingly by cases of tuberculosis or another illness that affects the bones. In one case it is a question of a child of about seven years of age, who presents two perforations in the cranium and a large part of the inside of the frontal and the parietals affected by a very advanced necrosis. A mature woman who was buried on a special platform in the highest part of the third cemetery - tomb 26 - had her face very affected, senile, by a strong necrosis on the maxillary, with several teeth lost and strong alveolar abscesses, and, in addition, accentuated inflammatory alterations in her legs. The deformations of osseous tuberculosis are one of the features which help to determine the existence of "hunchback" cases and visibly affected joints. |
